Joan Fetty

Joan Fetty

Joan's childhood was influenced by a father who trained any animal that was in the household. He also required his children to take full responsibility for their own pets. So it was very natural that when the opportunity arose, Joan became involved in dog training! Obedience titles led to advanced tracking titles, then herding and hunting dog event titles.

Over the years, her dogs have earned Tracking Dog Excellent, AKC Master Hunter, UKC Finished Championships, CKC Hunting Dog titles and of course all levels of obedience in the American Kennel Club, United Kennel Club, and Canadian Kennel Club! Joan has memberships in many obedience, hunting retriever, and breed clubs. In 1999, she along with her husband Bob founded Whistling Wings HRC one of the first UKC clubs west of the Rockies.

Joan started Positive Dog Training School in Woodinville, Washington in 1986. She believes that people should explore many venues with their purebred and mixed breed dogs to discover the best events for them and their animals. Through her Positive Dog Training School, Joan strives to bring many new and innovative forms of dog training and events to her students. Yet she never looses sight of the varied individual needs of different dogs and their owners. "Helping people discover the joys, fun, and friendship in the world of dog training is always my main goal."
